With over 22 years of experience working in the makeup industry, Suky is at the very top of her game.
Not only is she in demand for weddings around the world, but she has also worked with TV celebrities on fashion and publicity photoshoots. (We don’t want to name drop but let’s just say a certain Asian female candidate who won the 2022 series of The Apprentice!)
Suky puts the secret of her success down to communication. She prides herself on her ability to listen to each client and interpret their vision of what they want. She then gently introduces them to new concepts that they may have never considered. This way, each bride has a completely personalised look that accentuates their beauty and personality. She believes that the wedding day is the one time that a bride can afford to try something a little bolder or more contemporary.
By pushing the boundaries and stepping away from the tried and tested makeup that has been seen again and again, Suky helps each bride to feel like a million dollars; truly the star of their show.
To ensure she gets things just right, Suky is no stranger to practising new colours and techniques on herself before suggesting her ideas to her clients. This way, she knows exactly how things will turn out.
An Unfortunate Beginning
It was an unhappy experience for her sister that got Suky started in the industry. The family lived in an area with few Indian residents and had to ask around for a recommendation for someone who did bridal hair and makeup. Unfortunately, on the wedding day, the bride’s makeup was not appropriate for her skin colour and some of the bindis that had been painted on her skin smudged. Suky was just 17 years old at the time and didn’t know how to help her sister. She decided to train as a makeup artist and thankfully she has been giving brides a much happier experience ever since.
Having worked with all skin tones, Suky is adept at being able to suggest a colour palette that will enhance a bride’s natural look. Similarly, she is skilled at being able to work with all hair types and can support those who have thinning hair by creating a bespoke hairpiece.
Now a veteran of her craft, Suky ensures she keeps abreast of fashion and is always keen to introduce her brides to the very latest trends.
The Next Chapter
Suky continues to be in high demand both here and abroad. One of her most lavish and memorable events took place in Kenya. When she is not providing her services to brides or creating photoshoots to showcase her work, Suky is keen to pass on her expertise to the next generation of makeup artists.
